Dinner in Alsace 10/23 – 10/24

Before I moved to Paris I spent a summer in Nice. There, at language school, I first met a friend of mine, Alexandra from Marsala, Italy. Later, after I moved to Paris, I went to visit her and her sister who were both studying in Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace. We went to a brasserie that brewed its beer on premises and ate wafer thin Flammenkuche that came one after another as long as we were drinking beer. The night finished after some student parties at an all night cafe scarfing down choucroute and sausages to soak up all that beer (and marsala a brand produced by their father). I remember the Alsatian Cuisine with its Germanic and French influences had a certain stick-to-your-rib appeal which was very comforting. Chef Grant LLOYD has come up with a fantastic Alsatian menu to pair with these fall days
